1.Agreement to these terms

By downloading, opening or using Vocabee, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and forms part of this agreement.

2.Who can use Vocabee

You must be at least 13 years old to use Vocabee. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the app with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf.

You also confirm that you are not barred from using the app under the laws of your country or under Apple’s terms.

3.Your licence to use the app

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Vocabee on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service. This is a licence, not a sale — we keep ownership of the app.

You agree not to:

• Copy, modify, translate or create derivative works of the app, except where the law says you may.
• Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code.
• Rent, lease, lend, sell or sublicense the app.
• Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notices.

4.Accounts

An account is optional — the free tier works without one. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us at support@thevocabee.app if you think someone else has access to it.

You must give accurate information when you sign up, and you may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account.

5.Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Vocabee Pro is an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the Pro features described on our home page. Before you buy, the app shows you — on the purchase screen itself — the title of the subscription, the length of each subscription period, the price for that period in your local currency, and a link to this page and to our Privacy Policy. Nothing is charged until you confirm.

• Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase.
• Renewal is automatic unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period, at the price shown for the renewing period.
• Free trials and introductory offers, where we offer them, are shown with their length and their post-trial price before you confirm. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial. A trial converts into a paid subscription automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before it ends.
• Cancellation: manage or cancel in the iOS Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → Vocabee. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its App Store policies. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases directly, but email us if something has gone wrong and we will help where we can.
• Price changes take effect only after Apple has given you notice and, where required, obtained your consent.

If your subscription lapses, you keep access to the free tier and to your saved words; Pro-only content becomes unavailable until you resubscribe.

6.Acceptable use

When using Vocabee, you agree not to:

• Break the law or infringe anyone else’s rights.
• Interfere with, overload or disrupt the app, our servers or the services we depend on.
• Probe, scan or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or another user’s account.
• Use automated means to scrape, harvest or bulk-download content from the app.
• Misuse word generation to produce unlawful, harassing or abusive content.

7.Your content and feedback

Your content

Anything you add to the app — your collections, notes and saved words — stays yours. We claim no ownership of it. You grant us only the limited licence we need to host, store, back up and sync that content in order to provide the service to you, and that licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions or feature requests, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them without restriction or obligation to you. We are grateful for feedback, but we cannot treat it as confidential or pay for it.

8.Our intellectual property

Vocabee, the bee mark, the wordmark, the app design, the word selections, the card and wallpaper themes and all associated software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws.

You may share word cards and wallpapers you export from the app for personal, non-commercial use. You may not sell them, use them as part of another product, or present them as your own.

9.Third-party services and imagery

Vocabee relies on services operated by other companies. Your use of the app also involves their terms:

• Apple — App Store distribution, in-app purchases and push notifications.
• Supabase — authentication, database hosting and the Edge Function behind word generation.
• RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management.
• Google (Gemini API) — generates words when you request them.

We are not responsible for third-party services, and their availability is outside our control.

Photo backgrounds used in the card and wallpaper themes are licensed from third-party photography providers, including Unsplash, and remain subject to those providers’ licence terms. Photographers retain the rights to their images. You may use exported cards and wallpapers personally, but you may not redistribute the underlying photography on its own.

10.External services and consent to use of data

External services

Vocabee may enable access to services and websites operated by others (“External Services”) — for example, the word generation service and the App Store. You agree to use External Services at your sole risk. Riyaan Rahman is not responsible for examining or evaluating the content or accuracy of any third-party External Service, and does not warrant it.

External Services may not be available in all languages or in your home country, and may not be appropriate or available for use in any particular location. To the extent you choose to use them, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with any applicable laws. We reserve the right to change, suspend, remove, disable or impose access restrictions on any External Service at any time without notice or liability.

Consent to use of data

You agree that we may collect and use technical data and related information — including technical information about your device, system and application software, and peripherals — that is gathered periodically to make software updates, product support and other services available to you. We may use this information, as long as it is in a form that does not personally identify you, to improve Vocabee or to provide services or technologies to you.

How we handle personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms and which you should read in full.

11.AI-generated words

Some content in Vocabee is produced by an AI model. We check what we can, but generated definitions and example sentences may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete or oddly phrased. Vocabee is a learning aid, not a dictionary of record — please do not rely on it for academic, legal, medical or professional purposes.

If you spot something wrong, tell us at support@thevocabee.app and we will fix it.

12.Changes to the app and these terms

We are always working on Vocabee, so features may be added, changed or removed over time. We may also update these terms. When we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date and give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect.

Continuing to use Vocabee after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.

13.Termination

You can stop using Vocabee at any time by deleting the app and, if you have one, your account.

These terms are effective until terminated by you or by us. Your rights under the licence in section 3 will terminate automatically, without notice from us, if you fail to comply with any of its terms. Upon termination of the licence, you must stop all use of Vocabee and destroy all copies, full or partial, of the app.

We may also suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will give you notice first. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law — continue to apply afterwards.

14.Disclaimer of warranties

Vocabee is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that defects will be corrected, or that the content will be accurate or complete.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits any consumer rights that cannot be limited by law.

15.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Riyaan Rahman will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of Vocabee.

Our total liability for all claims relating to the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Vocabee in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16.Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Riyaan Rahman and its officers, employees and contractors from any claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your misuse of the app, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

17.Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas for any dispute that is not resolved informally.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protection provisions of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

Before starting formal proceedings, please email support@thevocabee.app. Most things can be sorted out in a couple of messages.

18.Export compliance and government users

You may not use or otherwise export or re-export Vocabee except as authorised by United States law and the laws of the jurisdiction in which it was obtained. In particular, Vocabee may not be exported or re-exported into any U.S.-embargoed country, or to anyone on the U.S. Treasury Department’s Specially Designated Nationals list or the U.S. Department of Commerce Denied Persons or Entity lists. By using Vocabee you represent and warrant that you are not located in any such country and are not on any such list.

U.S. Government end users.Vocabee and its related documentation are “Commercial Items”, as that term is defined at 48 C.F.R. §2.101, consisting of “Commercial Computer Software” and “Commercial Computer Software Documentation”. Consistent with 48 C.F.R. §12.212 or 48 C.F.R. §227.7202-1 through 227.7202-4, they are licensed to U.S. Government end users only as Commercial Items and with only those rights granted to all other end users under these terms.

19.Apple-specific terms

The following applies because you downloaded Vocabee from the App Store. If it conflicts with anything else in these terms, this section wins for App Store downloads.

• These terms are between you and Riyaan Rahman only. Apple is not a party to them.
• Riyaan Rahman, not Apple, is solely responsible for Vocabee and its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Vocabee. Riyaan Rahman is solely responsible for any maintenance and support services, and you can reach us for support at support@thevocabee.app or at 2007 9th St, Lubbock, TX 79401, USA.
• If Vocabee fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to Vocabee, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar legislation.
• Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement or discharge of any third-party claim that Vocabee infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights.
• You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using Vocabee. For example, your use of the app must not put you in breach of your wireless data service agreement, and your use of the App Store and of any subscription is subject to Apple’s own terms.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you.

20.General

Severability. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in force.

No waiver. If we do not enforce a right, that is not a waiver of it.

Assignment. You may not transfer these terms without our consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger or sale of the business.

Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Vocabee, and replace any earlier understandings.
